Dear friends and followers of the Whaley Historic House Museum,
My name is Davina Kuh Jakobi and I am pleased to announce that I have just stepped into the role of Executive Director with the Whaley Historic House Museum.
A bit about me is that I am an objects conservator by training (MS in Conservation for Archaeology and Museums from University College London, 2014; MA in Principles of Conservation from University College London, 2012; BA in Art Conservation and Art History from University of Delaware, 2009) with vast international museum experience. I am coming to this institution directly from The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation over in Dearborn, where I worked as a Conservator for a year to get the "What We Wore" exhibition initiative underway. Prior to that, I consulted with the German Maritime Museum in Bremerhaven, Germany amidst a major refurbishment project. From 2015-2017, I served as the Junior Conservator for Ship and Scale Models at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where I focused on a collections survey and undertaking professional and public outreach initiatives. I am also currently serving as an Assistant Co-ordinator with the ICOM-CC Theory, History, and Ethics of Conservation group. I love working with our cultural heritage collections, and you, the public!
I am very excited that I will have the opportunity to lead and have a hand in revitalizing this amazing gem of Flint now that the restoration following the devastating 2015 fire has been completed and the WHHM has now been successfully reopened to the public. This really wouldn't have been possible without loyal and wonderful supporters such as yourselves! However, we still haven't met our fundraising goals and our campaign to deal with the consequences of that misfortune continues behind the scenes. Your support can make a difference so please consider giving at http://www.gofundme.com/f/whaleyfire. Of course, if you aren't already a member, do consider making a formal connection with us and start receiving member benefits today! Remember, your donations make a huge difference and are 100% tax deductible!
If you have any questions, suggestions, would like to drop by, arrange a visit, or would simply like to get in contact with me, please feel free to send me a message at Director@WhaleyHouse.com! Most importantly, keep an eye out both here and on our Facebook group for new and upcoming initiatives and events!!
Stay tuned and hope to see you soon!
