Whaley House Museum offers programs designed to enhance the classroom experience. Our specialty is placing local history in the context of regional and national trends during the Victorian era. In each program, students have the opportunity to explore the lives of the Whaley family, tour the home, and gain insight on local history and historic preservation.

Grant funding for transportation reimbursements is available to public schools located in Genesee County, Michigan. This project is made possible through a generous trust from the Veit Trust and can be applied to transportation costs up to $100.

Whaley House Museum General Tours
Guided by Whaley House Museum docents, students have the opportunity to explore one of Flint's most important historic resources. Students will learn about the importance of the Whaley family and their contributions to our region's history. (25 students maximum; 1 hour. $2.00 per student.)

Then and Now
Emphasis is placed on the technological advancements in America during the late 1800s. During a guided tour of the home, students will participate in a technology scavenger hunt and discover the similarities and differences of Victorian life to their own.
